End of Dial-up Service

Despite the satisfaction of providing our loyal clients with quality service over the last 20 years, effective August 31, 2013 CentralVA.Net will discontinue Dial-Up Internet Access.

While we thank our customers for their faithful patronage, this shift has become inevitable. The cost of providing Dial-Up Internet Access has grown, while its general use by customers has declined. Unfortunately, this service no longer generates sufficient revenue to cover our cost to provide the lines to our customers.

Please note this change only affects users who access the Internet through CentralVA.Net by dialing into a conventional telephone line, also referred to as a wired, land-based, or POTS line. All other CentralVA.Net services, including web hosting, FTP sites, and virtual customers, will remain in place and unaffected.

To make this transition easier for our customers, we will maintain customer email accounts (any email address ending in “@CentralVA.net”) until December 31, 2013 at no charge. After that date, if you wish to retain your email account, you may do so for a monthly fee.

If you must use a telephone or Dial-Up service to connect to the Internet, there are several local providers that can help you secure a new Dial-Up service. Your local landline telephone provider may also offer Dial-Up Internet Service.
